Court Validation

On October 26, 2010, in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, PRC, Lily's adoption was finalized. Today, exactly 6 months later, we had our court date for validating Lily's adoption in our state. While not required to do so, we felt this was an important step to take. She was already granted American citizenship when we flew home from China and landed on US soil. Today, with the court validation, our county court acknowledged our adoption of Lily, and she will  now be able to obtain a state birth certificate, also known as a certificate of foreign birth.

Our agency, CCAI, was so helpful in providing the necessary steps/forms that were required, so it was a quick and smooth hearing. The judge was so kind and he seemed to be taken with our little cupcake, who dressed up for the special day. Mike and I both were a little emotional as we raised our right hand and answered the judges questions......a few happy tears from us when he stood to congratulate us.

These milestones that we reach never cease to amaze me. She never stops amazing me. And I still find myself thinking, with overwhelming gratitude......."she is finally home".

  2. Congratulations!!! Oh Ashley that's the last step. We also did this with both of our adoptions, makes things easier to register her for school (even though that's a long ways a way), someday. What a happy girl!!!
