We began our trip to North Carolina for my nephew's wedding. Lily was the flower girl but our trip got off to a rough start. The night before we left, she came down with a fever and congestion. I feared she was getting sick earlier in the day but a last minute trip to the pediatrician was not very helpful. We kept the fever down by giving her children's advil around the clock. She was such a trooper and Thursday was a long travel day with a plane change and layover in Chicago. We then had to rent a car in Charlotte and drive about 2 1/2 hours to our hotel. She was greeted in the lobby by lots of aunts, uncles and cousins who were so excited to see her. Someone made the comment that she looked like a wilted little flower girl :( sad, but true.
She slept late on Friday morning and we didn't do much during the day. She rallied for the rehearsal, but absolutely feel apart at the rehearsal dinner. We left before dinner was served. Saturday was spent mostly in our room where I was beginning to worry that she was getting dehydrated. We ordered room service of chicken noodle soup and a friend who was a guest at the wedding, who was a pediatrician, came to check on her. It seems she had come done with a bad virus and all we could do was push fluids and rest, and keep her fever down. She perked up in time to get dressed in her gorgeous flower girl dress. She looked like a true princess. She was a superstar at the wedding and walked like an angel down the aisle. She lasted for a few photos after the ceremony, but feel asleep in my arms just as the reception was beginning.
A cute story - as we were waiting for photos, she and the two ring bearers were hanging around the wedding cake table. The baker was putting the finishing touches on the wedding cake. Some of the edible flowers were falling off. The three little children would patiently wait, and then scoop up the flowers and pop them in their mouths. During this time, the string quartet was warming up. She wanted to dance with her daddy. As far as she was concerned, she got to enjoy the reception....she had her cake and got to dance with her prince :)
Sunday morning we woke up, had a fun breakfast with family and and drove to the airport for our flight to Orlando. She was feeling much better and she knew where we were headed! Disney World! It was everything that I thought it would be for her and so much more. It truly was a magical trip. The first day we checked into our hotel, toured Disney's Boardwalk and watched fireworks. The next morning we entered the Magic Kingdom and the magic began. We weren't 10 feet into the park when she spotted Pluto and Maria from the Aristocrats. The waiting in line to hug the characters and princess began. Over the next few day, she got to visit with Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, Snow White, Ariel, Tinkerbell, Mary Poppins, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Pluto. She squealed each time she saw a "mickey or princess" and threw her arms around their necks. It was priceless. She saw a princess parade and a live character show. Disney at night is amazing and the Christmas decorations were amazing. She loved It's a Small World and we rode it five times. She also loved Peter Pan's Flight, Ariel's Adventure, Dumbo, Jungle Cruise and even Pirates! She never complained once about waiting in line. She was patient and polite. We were so proud of her.
Two high-lights of the trip were Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique where a fairy godmother turned her into a beautiful and sparkling Cinderella. She waltz around downtown Disney like she owned the place :) The other amazing experience was the My Perfect Tea Party with Sleeping Beauty. Her daddy took her and I know it is something neither of them will ever forget. They treated all the little girls so special and each little guest received a rose, a crown, a bracelet and a beautiful doll. Lily loves tea parties anyway, and to attend one with princess Aurora was a dream come true. Mike was so funny when I asked him about it. He said, "I drank about 2 gallons of tea, she would not stop filling my cup!" What a special time for a princess and her prince.
Here we go....pictures!
So many pictures, but I just had to document the magic. It's all for Lily. Our beloved little princess :)
